Sri Lanka Vs West Indies T20 World Cup 2016- Match Report

Sri Lanka vs West Indies, game 21st of the T20 World Cup, on Sunday, the 20th March 2016.

The likes of Chris Gayle can destroy any bowling lineup in the world, we saw that in this world cup so far. The thrilling contest on Sunday evening is between West Indies and Sri Lanka at Bangalore India. The match is scheduled to begin at 19:30 local time (14:00 GMT). Angelo Mathews with his army will collide with the former world champions West Indies led by Darren Sammy.

The most fearful soldier from the West Indies is Chris Gayle in this battle against Sri Lanka. This will be a night match at Bangalore. Chris Gayle has the privilege to score runs in the T20 format of the game than any other batsman in the world playing. Looking at his performance against Sri Lanka in T20, he failed in last 5 matches scoring just under 10 runs in each match.

Graham Ford the Sri Lankan coach in his press conference said that we will put Chris Gayle to test in today’s match. He said Sri ؒanka has faced West Indies in 2012 world cup and if we repeat the same performance tonight, we can certainly make things tough for West Indies and Gayle.

A great setback is hurting Sri Lanka like a disaster in the form of Lasith Malinga’s withdrawal from the World Cup 2016 due to an injury. He wont be coming to attack to save them and remove Gayle’s wicket. So the huge burden falls on the shoulders of Angelo Mathews, Chameera and Parara. There is no player like Malinga, he will not be replaced by anyone, but the coach said Sri Lankans are great fighters.

With the retirement of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, he feels Sri Lanka needs to fills those gaps in batting. Tillakaratne Dilshan along with Angelo Mathews are senior enough to cope with any challenge. They don’t like to miss out on important matches.
