Shahid Afridi wicket in the National T20 Cup 2016

Pakistan is leading a 3 match T20 series against New Zealand with 1-0 so far. The credit goes to some good bowling of Wahab Riaz and great batting performance of Muhammad Hafiz, the smashing opening senior batsman of Pakistan. Hafiz made a 51 run knock on 15th January against New Zealand.New Zealand won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistani batsmen went after the bowlers in the very beginning. Lets explore the wonderful innings played by Hafiz.

Pakistan won this match in a great fashion. The team traveled all the way to New Zealand for this series and put on a 171 runs target for the home team in the very first T20 game. Hafiz scored 61 runs by facing 47 balls. He was well supported by captain Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal and Shehzad. The outfield was fast and smooth. Hafiz was able to score his runs with the help of 2 sixes.He never looked panicked in the match as Pakistan had 10 wickets in hand.

The 4th over was the start of a nightmare for New Zealand left arm fast bowler when Hafiz was only dealing in boundaries. He scored 17 runs in one over. He continued his shots in the 6th over when he hit Anderson for a boundary. It was a near catch out chance but the ball went over the head of fielder at cover.On the fourth ball of same over, Hafiz hit a tremendous six over the bowler’s head. The ball went into the black sight screen for a splendid six. The Kiwi fans also cheered this shot very much. He already scored 14 of 5 deliveries. Anderson was able to beat him cleverly in the next delivery but he smiled and hit the next last ball of the over for a smashing cut for four runs. The balls passed Guptil like a rocket.

In the 12th over, Umar Akmal was at the non-striker’s end. Hafiz hit Astle for another huge six over the On Side boundary. That was a beautiful spin ball, Hafiz made it a lollipop for a sixer. Hafiz was 51 at 36 balls as he raised his bat to respond to the huge cheer of the crowd.He had so far hit 6 boundaries and 2 sixes. In the 15 over, Hafiz was 61 not out after playing 46 balls. On the 5th deliver, he tried to hit the ball above the square leg fielder for another boundary, but unfortunately the he got caught out. The ball was 122km/hr fast, Astle took a good catch and Hafiz had to perish after playing a splendid knock of 61 on 47 balls. That was the only badly executed shot he played but he did his part for Pakistan.
