Back in the days of 80s and 90s, the bowling was a bit different in the game of cricket than it is in these modern times when the cricket is being played so much more. The international bowlers not only play for their national teams during the year, but they get huge exposure playing for different leagues like BBL, PSL and IPL.
In the old days of Curtly Ambrose, Dennis Lillie, Courtney Walsh, Sarfraz Nawaz and Imran Khan, the height was a major factor for the fast bowler. The tallest West Indian guys were a major threat for the world batsmen. Nowadays, the bowlers have become much more smarter, they can generate much better pace than old cricketers.
The cricketers like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were so very accurate, and fast as well.
After the departure of Shoaib Akhtar in 2011, we are left with some good young talent like Muhammad Amir and Wahab Riaz. But the government of Pakistan and Peshawar KPK especially feel a dire need of bringing out a young new talent for the future of Pakistani cricket.
Waqar Younis was an amazing talent who used to bowl around 140-150 km/hr constantly in any part of the world. His arm was devastating. The country of Pakistan is very unfortunate not to produce another Waqar Younis after 2003. There is a certainly a waste of talent among the young cricketers who do not rise up to the international level. Most do not even make it to the domestic level.
Therefore the government of KPK is feeling this need to correct their system of selection. Imran Khan the Chairman of PTI is a legendary Ex-Fast bowler as well. Under his government, a young Pakistani talented bowler has been discovered in Peshawar who is capable of bowling as fast as Waqar Younis around 150 km/hr. He was found bowling in the nets.
