Martin Guptill played another match winning innings against Pakistan by hitting 82 runs of just 81 balls in the 3rd and final ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand played at Auckland on 31 January, 2016. Guptill hit 8 fours and 3 sixes and had 101.23 strike rate to provide a promising start to his team.
Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill scored another 100 plus runs partnership in the series. Both jointly put 159 runs on the board on around 150 balls. Guptill and Brendon McCullum started the innings to chase 291 somewhat huge target against strong Pakistani bowling line-up.
Brendon McCullum went for duck while playing a pull shot to very first bowl of Muhammad Amir but unfortunately fell short to the big hands of Muhammad Irfan who had a comfortable and easy catch.
Then Guptill and Williamson took the responsibility and put 159 runs partnership on the board before Azhar Ali took Guptill at 82 runs. Guptill tried to make a sweep but missed and went for leg before wicket.
Azhar Ali worked as a part time bowler and provided break through in the 29th Over.
