Pakistan Super League has finally proved a worth while cricketing tournament with two extremely close encounters on Sunday, the 7th February, 2016. In the 7th match of Pakistan Super League and their third, the Quetta Gladiators remained unbeaten with another nail biting victory over Peshawar Zalmi.
Quetta has emerged as a tournament favorite so far with their unbeaten status so far. Quetta scored just 139 runs off 20 overs with 7 wickets down. Kevin Peterson’s 35 runs of 29 balls was a helpful addition for Quetta which led them to 139 runs. Sarfaraz Ahmad was the second highest run getter with his 21 runs off 24 balls.
Quetta Gladiators were always in the game when Kevin Pieterson was batting but once he got out in the 18th over the match swung in the favor of Peshawar Zalmi. Pieterson was caught at the covers by Shahid Afridi. It was a wonderful catch by the big man.
Then it was all up to Anwar Ali and Elton Chighumbura to finish of the game. Pieterson had a long chat with Chighumbura before leaving the crease. Anwar made the match possible first when he stroked a beautiful six against Tait.
It was fast yet Anwar went under the ball and hit it feet over the long off fielder and the ball went into the stands. This eased the pressure off the Quetta Gladiators. Late it was the Zimbabwean who swung his bat against the left arm Wahab Riaz and his pull shot gave his team 4 precious runs.
Wahab once again banged the ball short and Chighumbura just held onto his feet and pushed the ball on the to the leg side and it was four written all over it when the ball came off from his bat. Anwar then finished off the game with an edge and gave the Quetta Gladiators a thriller.
