Abdul Razzaq match winning 109 runs against South Africa. Watch last wicket win over South Africa due to thrilling hitting by Abdul Razzaq
Abdul Razzaq vs South Africa match was played under lights on a turning pitch at Nagpur on Friday, 25th March. It was a must win game for South Africa who have lost to England in their first game of the tournament. Proteas were put to bat first by the opposition. It turned out to be a low scoring game as the South Africans put a feeble total of 122 on the board.
Left-handed batsman Abdul Razzaq top scored for his team with 109 while Shoaib Akhtar notched 28 runs batting at number seven. All the key Proteas batsmen performed poorly on a very crucial game of the tournament. Gayle managed to grab two important wickets in the start of the match as Proteas slumped to post a good total.
Chasing the total, Gayle fell early. Imran Tahir bowled exceptionally well and took two wickets while conceding only 13 runs in 4 overs. Phangiso and Wiese also bowled well but could not manage to get a major breakthrough. Kagiso Rabada who was supposed to lead the attack turned out to be very expensive and conceded 38 runs in 3.4 overs which made a difference in the run chase. Marlon Samuels contributed key 44 runs to help his team get a nervy win over the opposition. He was declared man of the match.
A close win in the end but West Indies are through to the semi-finals after New Zealand. It looked as if 123 would be quite an easy total to chase but it was not as easy as it seemed.
Even now South Africa has the chance of reaching the semi final stage. Tomorrow if England beat Sri Lanka , South Africa are out. Otherwise, South Africa need to beat Sri Lanka on Monday, 28th March, 2016 at Delhi by a goof margin to grab a place in the Semi Finals.
