Zimbabwe tour of Bangladesh is proving to be exciting tour considering the fact that Bangladesh is leading the series with 2 nill by leaving no stone undertuned.

They want to show the visitors that they are better than them. Now it was expected from the Zimbabwe team to perform well in the next match, but yet they suffered defeat in second consecutive match. The home team is leading the 4 match series to 2-0.Lets review what happened in the great encounter on 17th January.

Bangladesh won the toss in the morning and chose to bat. Tamin Iqbal and Sarkar opened the innigs with good solid style. Opener Sarkar played a good innings of 43 on 33 balls. Tamim also played some beautiful shots  around the ground to cheer home crowd. He hith 3 boundaries, made 23 runs.

He got caught out in the 6th over. The score was 1/45. Sonumya Sarkar kept playing a good innings with Sabbir Rehman. He also played a brilliant knock of 43 on 30 balls. The exciting innings was based on 3 sixes and a four over the boundaries. He remained not out till the end of innings. That was the solid batting performance that gave Bangladesh the stand for victory.

Muhammad Ullah only made 1 run. Mushfiqur Rahim got retired hurt at 24 runs, he remained unlucky but he was not out batsman as well. He played only 20 balls for his good innings. The 3rd wicket fell in the 11th over. That was the last wicket fell for Bangladesh.

Shakib Ul Hasan came to the crease and remained not out as well. He had the best strike rate of 158. There were only 6 extras in the innings. Muzarabani, Masakadza and Cremer all got 1 wicket.Sirilanka managed to make 167 runs total in 20 overs. The run rae was good 8.35.


Zimbabwe had to chase a target of 168 at a scoring rate of 8 per over. It was a tough task considering good bowling form of Bangladesh. The openers stated the innings well. V Sibanda and H Masakadza did a good job. Both started a good partnership . The first wicket did not fell till the 7th over. The score was 50 at that time.

The first wicket of  Sibanda fell at 50. Soon after that, Massakadza got out early as well when score was 55 runs. Mutumbami and Williams did a poor job in the middle order. They both got out at score of 7. Zimbabwe lost 4 wickets at  a total of 68.

After that Waller and Moor came to pitch. MN Waller made quick runs at the strike rate of 138 and he remained the fastest run scorer for Zimbabwe.No other batsman had such a big rate He made 29 runs in just 21 balls. Waller was hitting well when he got caught out in the 16th over.

Madziva was out for a duck very soon. He faced 4 balls for no runs. At that time, the Zimbabwe team lost 7 wickets at the  total score of 109.The situation became worse fot the visting team as the two non specialist batsmen Cremer and WP Masakzada were left  in the tail to chase the total. Cremer looking amhitious played a high shot. he got caught out by the hands of Shabir Rehman at 8. The team could only make a total of 125 in the 19.6 overs Zimbabwe was bowled out by the Bangladesh team.

The result favored Bangladesh  again in the second match of the series. A 2 nill lead for Bangladesh means they want to win the home series and want to prove their superiority over Zimbabwe. Just before the world cup,.bowlers did a great job for their team. Sabbir Rahman took 3 wickets. Mustafizur Rahman took 2 wickets.


Although Zimbabwe made a 100 runs in 15 overs, but that was not quick enough to pull a victory. This is the do or die situation for Zimbabwe now, lets see how they can handle that in the coming days of January. It is going to be the most thrilling series before the world cup between these two weak teams for 2016.
