Branden McCullum was on fire in the first test match against Australia. The crowd got the ultimate return for their time and money when they saw their home team captain deliver a miracle on the field with his batting. He mad 145 runs, the top score of the Kiwis innings as well as the fastest hundred in 54 balls.
His gallant innings gave New Zealand the mammoth total of 370. They got bowled out by the Australian bowlers who did a pretty good job in containing New Zealand below 400. When McCullum was on fire with his bat, it looked like a never ending total of runs for the Kiwis.
the credit goes to the Pattinson and Hazlewood for the good bowling. Despite the wicket not so helpful for the bowlers, they were able to get some turn. Williamson and Latham were having all sorts of trouble playing them initially, got out cheaply.
Australia are playing slowly and defensively. Warner started carefully because they dont want to mess up their first innings against the all powerful pace attack of Kiwis.
Josh Hazlewood, James Pattinson and Jackson Bird tried their best with their arms to contain the fiery McCullum, they ran out of tricks eventually.
The greatest drama of this innings was the all important catch by Mitchell Marsh was taken when the captain McCullum was just under 40 runs. He was looking dangerous and non stop. If that was not a no ball, we would have seen the demise of McCullum on 39 runs. Ofcourse it did not happen, and big guy went on to impress the masses with his historic record fastest hundred.
