Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka Full Match Report – 17 March 2016

Afghanistan need to build a good partnership at the top order. Once Sirilanka is able to get some quick wickets, it might be difficult to put up a decent total against Siri Lanka.

If Afghanistan could pull a victory in this match, it would certainly help their team gain momentum in the World Cup T2o 2016. This match for Siri Lanka at Eden Gardens is equally important from victory’s point of view. The skipper Angelo Mathew is no new to this ground. Siri Lanka will be playing aggressively in the second innings to beat the Afghanistan here.

Without the killing machine Malinga, the key bowlers Chameera, Mathews and Kulasekra have done a nice job in containing the Afghanistan top order. The run rate has come down to just over 4.0.

Hopefully if Asghar keeps playing his shots like this and keeps the score board moving, he will not only complete his half century but also give Afghanistan fans something to cheer about in the last few overs. A tremendous six in the 15th over has given him lot of confidence to hit hard in the final overs.

The match is getting very interesting with the good partnership between unbeaten captain and Samiullah. The captain is ready to open free with his bat. He is making his intentions clear. If  Asghar can just be careful and not play a wrong shot in the air, he will lead Afghanistan by example to a nice total.

All credit to these two for bringing the run rate up to 6.5 again. Chameera is trying hard and hoping to get another breakthrough on the other end. The skipper Asghar is back on strike and about to complete his brilliant 50 in this world cup 2016.

The great Inzi (Imzimam Ul Haq) from Pakistan is coaching this motivated Afghanistan side. He is happy with the performance of his skipper. The blue caps are really having a hard time against the quality knock of these Afghanistan batsmen.

Asghar has just made his highest score in T20s. He has hit an incredible six just before he got out at 58. Well done skipper!

Sri Lanka won the match by 6 runs with the heroic performance by Tilkratne Dilshan, who scored 83 not out.
